Don’t Wait for Winter to Cause Problems, Look into Sewer Replacement Before You Have an Issue
November 8, 2015
Winter?s coming and while a cracked, or even worse, a burst water pipe can cause major damage to your home and property at any time, that?s the last thing you want to deal with when the temperatures are dropping. Just a small leak can cause your water usage to increase dramatically, costing you money. Having a specialist in sewer line replacement look over your property can save you both money and headaches in the long run.
In the largest plumbing systems in America, a third of the pipes are between 40 and 80 years old. If your sewer system is 40 years or older, it may be time for a replacement, but don?t worry, there have been major developments in residential plumbing in the last 10 to 15 years. Trenchless sewers and methods have come on the market for residential use, although many people are still completely unaware that they’re available. In fact, in an online poll done by Angie?s list, nearly a quarter of respondents have replaced their sewer and 3% say they plan to in the immediate future, but 78% of them had never heard of “no dig,” or trenchless sewer repair. Trenchless pipe replacement means minimal excavation, and far less hassle and mess in and around your home.
When asked, almost a third of all consumers say they would be more than happy to pay extra for sewer line replacement if they could preserve the existing garden, deck, lanai, or other outdoor features. And while trenchless sewers may have an upfront cost 30 to 50% higher than conventional sewers in some cases, ultimately they can still be far more cost effective, because you?ll no longer need to spend additional money on repairs. Plus, your yard won?t be torn up, costing you money to replant, rebuild, etc.
So what are you waiting for? Sewer line replacement will save you frustration with freezing, cracking pipes this winter, before it can happen. Good references here.
