Though it’s usually different for every homeowner, the decision ultimately comes down to one thing that cannot be compromised on. If you’re biggest concern is cost, then a chain link fence is what you want. These metal fences cost only six to eight dollars per foot. Wood fences cost can cost $15 per foot, and vinyl fences can cost a whopping $20 per foot — more than three times what chain link fences cost. However, chain link fences aren’t the most attractive type of fence. Many homeowners find their cagey, stark metal appearance to be rather unattractive.

The Attractiveness.

Wood fences are the most aesthetically appealing type of fencing out there. Their traditional, rustic appearance works well with any shape, size, or color house. Best of all, because wood fences increase curb appeal, they also increase property value. However, moisture causes wood fences to rot or warp. If wood fences are left to defend themselves against the elements, then they’ll quickly fall into disrepair, which means they need a lot of maintenance.

The Amount of Necessary Maintenance.

Vinyl fences, on the other hand, are just as aesthetically pleasing as wood fences, but require little to no maintenance. They just need need to be cleaned when dirty, and that’s about it. The only trouble is, as previously mentioned, they do tend to cost a lot.
