It is important that the subgrade is prepped properly for the driveway to last a lifetime. The better the preparation means the better the driveway will be. It is critical to focus on the drainage plan. The soil must be excavated and finely grated for proper water drainage. The water must run away from the garage and house to avoid flooding. The water must run off the asphalt. Sitting water can cause premature deportation of the material.
Any soft of unstable material should be removed and replaced with a strong base material like road base, recycled concrete, or limestone. This should be placed before installing the asphalt.
